Dungeon Descent
A downloadable game for Windows
This dungeon is endless... How far down can you go?
Your job is to descend the dungeon by finding the ladder on each floor within the time limit! Explore rooms and traverse the floor, but during your search, you must be sure to avoid hazard such as spikes and enemies! If you don't, your run might be cut short!
Utilize your dash ability to protect yourself and get moving, and pick up items from chests along the way to help you in your journey. Beware, however, because some chests may yield bad consequences for being opened!
Aside from the use of a few select items, you cannot fight! Your only choice is to run from whatever dangers you may encounter in this vast dungeon!

ROOM EDITOR
You can make your own rooms with the room editor!
Select a layer (tile or object) and then select a "brush" (any of the icons under the layer buttons). When your brush is selected, you can paint on the grid with it! The tile layer holds the floor itself, while the object layer is what else might be in the room (chests, enemies). Details about the tiles and objects can be found below:
- Floor tiles - 8 variations of decorative floor tiles
- Spikes - Deals 1 damage to the player
- Ladder - Advances the player to the next floor
- Momentum boost pad - Pushes the player in the direction that they're moving in
- Up boost pad - Pushes the player upward
- Right boost pad - Pushes the player rightward
- Down boost pad - Pushes the player downward
- Left boost pad - Pushes the player leftward
- Chest - Grants an item or stat modification to the player on contact
- Necromancer - Follows the player and does 5 damage on contact with the player
- Swampy - Quickly moves horizontally at random time intervals and does 20 damage on contact with the player
There are also 5 room types that you can choose from. The spawn conditions for rooms are affected by what type they are. The types are as follows:
- Regular - Room type for basic rooms; most rooms are regular rooms
- Map icon: None
- Start - Room type for the first room of each floor; it will always be in the exact center of the floor, and there is only ever one per floor
- Map icon: +
- End - Room type for the room that contains the ladder; there is only ever one per floor
- Map icon: 🪜
- Death - Room type for extra dangerous rooms; these have a small chance to replace regular rooms
- Map icon: 💀
- Debug - Room type that only appears when "Debug Rooms" is turned on in-game; all rooms are debug rooms when this is on
- Map icon: #
You can save and load rooms by clicking the "Save Room" and "Load Room" buttons respectively. Clicking these buttons will automatically open up a dialog box to the folder containing room files for Dungeon Descent, where you can perform your desired action.
